A Christmas visit........... December, 2022.

Created by Michael 5 months ago

We were invited to see Sarah's amazing Christmas display and decorations at her home in December,2022.

Warmly wrapped in winter clothes, we walked around the mini village lit with tiny lights, admired the beautifully decorated tree and stopped to study the lovely collection of miniature reindeer spread along a shelf on the wall. As we stepped away, with a swish of my overcoat, I was horrified to see a cluster of reindeer heading towards the floor. Disaster. A broken Finnish Rudolph had broken into pieces. He was glued back together, and Sarah very kindly said the cracks added to his character. I was mortified. I managed to find a vintage mini reindeer and presented it to Sarah, who said she loved him as he had a bulb inside that lit up and flashed. He was delivered with a poem, which Sarah said she would read every Christmas. I am so sad that she will not be reading it this year...

To Sarah’s home we were invited,
To say the least, we were delighted!
A Christmas show was there to see,
With mini village and a tree,
The proudest spot – a prime collection –
Demanded quite intense inspection.
Reindeer models, large and small,
Old and new, short and tall….
All of them extremely bright,
A treat to see in festive light.
But alas, in just a flash,
There was a most almighty crash
As reindeer heads were swept away
Amidst the noise of breaking clay.
Rudolf smashed upon the floor,
His glowing red nose was no more….
A very sad, remorseful guest
Determined he must do his best
To make amends and find a deer
That would bring friend Sarah cheer,
So, old and quaint, but very sweet,
To make the reindeer shelf complete,
Here’s Randolph reindeer, just to say,
A very merry Christmas Day!

Missing you every day, Sarah.

With much love from Michael, Sandra and Samantha xxx
